Offshore Vessel and Yacht Registration

 
 

Procedure

 

The process involved in registering a commercial vessel or a leisure yacht consists of two steps:

1. Obtaining the Provisional Navigation License & Provisional Radio License:

Once Delvalle & Delvalle presents the documentation required by the authorities, these licenses are granted in one (1) business day and are valid for a six (6) month period.

Documentation Required:


a. Complete the application form. Click Here

b. Copy of power of attorney in favor of Delvalle & Delvalle to represent the vessel or yacht before the Panamanian Maritime Authority (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

c. Copy of the purchase and sales contract, by which the current owner acquired the vessel or yacht (Bill of Sale). If the ship (vessel or yacht) is of new construction, the construction certificate is required.

d. Copy of the acceptance of the purchase and sale contract. (Document provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

Note: All this documentation does not have to be original and the apostille or legalization is not required at this moment. They can be delivered by email or faxed to (507)392.1262.

2. Obtaining the Permanent Navigation License and Permanent Radio License:

These licenses are valid for four years for vessels and two years for yachts. These are renewable every four and two years respectively.

Requirements:


Commercial Vessel


1. Power of attorney in favor of Delvalle & Delvalle to represent the vessel before the Panamanian Maritime Authority (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

2. Original purchase and sales contract by which the current owner acquired the vessel (Bill of Sale). If the vessel is of new construction, the construction certificate is required. Note: Before applying for the Permanent Navigation License, the purchase and sales contract or the construction certificate must be registered in the Public Registry of Panama.

3. Original document of the purchase & sales acceptance. (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

4. Original document of the cancellation of the previous register.

5. Tonnage certificate issued by a certified company in name of the Republic of Panama.

6. Completed application form for the radio license. (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

7. Technical certificates, depending on the type of vessels.

8. In case of tankers, proof of insurance.

Note: All the documents above must be originals and sent to us by courier. They must be authenticated by a Notary Public in their country of origin. At the same time they must come with apostille. If the country that issues the documentation is not subscribed in the “The Apostille Convention”, the documents must come authenticated by the Consulate of Panama in the country were they were issued.

Pleasure Yachts


1. Power of attorney in favor of Delvalle & Delvalle to represent the yacht before the Panamanian Maritime Authority (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

2. Original purchase and sales contract by which the current owner acquired the yacht (Bill of Sale). If the yacht is of new construction, the construction certificate is required.

3. Original document of the purchase & sales acceptance. (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

4. Original document of the cancellation of the previous register.

5. Application form for the radio license duly filed. (Model provided by Delvalle & Delvalle).

Note: All the documents above must be originals and sent to us by courier. They must be authenticated by a Notary Public of their country of origin. At the same time they must come with apostille.
