Toursit Visas
Tourist Visas are only
valid for a 30 day period but may be extended for
another 30 to 60 days.
If the country where the applicant resides
has a Visa Suppression Agreement
with Panama, the person may enter the country as a tourist simply
by
showing his/her passport. The remaining countries which do not
posses an
agreement with the Panamanian government must have a tourist visa
stamped
on their passport which is granted at their local Panamanian Consulate.
Requirements
a) Tourist Visa
- Passport, valid for no less than six (6)
months.
- Travel ticket of the applicant, valid for
no less than six (6) months.
- Tourist Card (when applicable).
- Visa stamped on the passport (when applicable).
- Economic Reliability of the interested party,
which may not be less than five hundred dollars (US$ 500.00),
or its equivalent in valid credit cards, bank references, letters
of employment or travelers checks.
b) Tourist Visa Extension
- Passport, valid for no less than six (6) months.
- Photocopy of all of the stamped pages of the
passport, as well as the information of the interested party.
- Letter of responsibility where it states that
he/she takes full economic responsibility of his/her food, lodging,
health and any other related expenses, and that he/she will
not represent an additional burden on the Panamanian State and
is committed to repatriating him/her, if necessary.
- A copy of one of the following bills: Electricity,
Water or Telephone.
- Return Ticket.
- Simple photocopy of the ID (Cedula) of the
responsible party in Panama and proof of his/her economic reliability,
which may be credited with a letter of employment and a social
security stub, original tax return receipts along with a photocopy
in order to be compared, bank references, and valid credit cards.
- Proof of the interested party's Economic Reliability,
which may be credited with bank references or a valid credit
card (if there is no responsible party in Panama). The minimum
credited economic reliability for an extension must be of five
hundred dollars (US$ 500.00.)
- Tourist Extension Application (Form provided
by the Immigration Deparment).
Note:
Foreigners that are located on Panamanian soil as tourists may
not work or perform any sort of lucrative activities, if so,
it is punishable by a fine.
